Muelles CROM equips FORD KUGA since September 2012

The Spanish plant of Ford in Almussafes, Valencia, yesterday announced its production increased by 10% to meet the increasing demand of the new Ford Kuga, which equates to an additional production of 8,000 units. The new model of the American brand exclusively exported to over 70 countries worldwide from our country.

The company said it expects first reaching a record 100,000 units of Kuga produced in a year, thanks to the new Kuga sales have grown 27% in February compared to the previous model.

This SUV Ford leads the strategy of expanding the range of SUVs in Europe and continue with the new EcoSport launch later this year and, subsequently, with the new generation of the Ford Edge. Indeed, another SUV, the Nissan Qashqai, entered first in the small group of the five best-selling models in Europe last February.

The SUV segment is clearly growing to the point that Rupert Stadler, CEO of Audi, acknowledged in an interview to international media this week that a third of its sales are Q 2020 models. Ford has decided to further schedule production of this model in Russia to meet growing global demand.

Making new Kuga started in Valencia in October 2012 within the investment plan by Ford decided months ago to the Spanish plant that reaches 1,112 million euros. With the new Kuga and the arrival of the new Transit Connect, the production of the Spanish plant will grow to 80% in 2013, up to 230,000 units and reach 300,000 vehicles in 2014.

According to Spanish sources builder, this investment is the largest of the Spanish industry in recent decades and is broken down between 812 million euros for the production of the new Kuga (230 million) and the new Ford Transit Connect (582 million), more than 300 million committed for 2009-2012 for other industrial investments.
